Is the VooPoo Dragbar Z700 SE a unique disposable vape in a sea of lookalikes? We examine the latest disposable to hit the market to see how it compares.

About the VooPoo brand

Following their launch in 2014, VooPoo quickly became recognised as a world-leading manufacturer of high-quality vaping products, with the brand becoming synonymous with impressive performance and innovative design.

Their product portfolio includes a wide range of options catering for all abilities, whether beginner or experienced vapers. For the advanced vaper, VooPoo is known for the powerful box mods in their Drag series (some delivering up to 200W of power), their user-friendly pod systems such as the Vinci and Argus series, and more recently, their range of disposable Dragbar vapes aimed at adult smokers new to the world of vaping.

In 2022 VooPoo collaborated with ZoVoo to launch a range of higher-quality Dragbars targeted at the UK market - their Dragbar Z700 SE range. Upping the game for disposable vape competitors, these unusual devices feature an advanced Gene Tree ceramic coil technology that delivers a performance and flavour experience rarely found in any device in the disposable vape market.

About the device

In looks, the Dragbar is an attractively sleek and smooth ‘one-colour’ device, whilst, in performance, the devices use a slightly more effective battery that promises up to 700 puffs instead of the standard 500 - 600. Uniquely, the devices come in a pack of two (promoted as up to 1400 puffs per pack).

The mouthpiece is transparent (in a colour to compliment the main body), and this visibility ensures the user will never experience a ‘dry hit’ from depleted e-liquid within the sealed unit. Unlike most disposable vape ranges, the colour theme of the device is not necessarily unique to the flavour, and there are some shared colours across the flavours in the range.

As you would expect for a disposable, the device is non-rechargeable, with an internal pre-filled tank containing 2ml of nic-salt-based e-liquid, at a 20mg nicotine strength. VooPoo may release different strengths in the future, but currently, you are limited to 20mg.

Whilst the colours in the range are all pretty bright (you couldn’t refer to this vape as discreet), it is still a fairly attractive unit with nice rounded corners and smooth surfaces - no jagged or hard edges at all.

One thing of note - you can’t miss the new Dragbar packaging! Whilst the design is pretty basic, it has a vivid yellow background on every box, making it very easy to spot! The box displays all the necessary warnings, safety information and the ingredients list.

The two vapes within are sealed in individual foil packs (these are clear on one side so you can easily read the flavour wording after the outer packaging has been removed) to preserve flavour and protect them from outside elements until use.

Where the Dragbar Z700 SE shines above its peers is in both flavour delivery and the realistic tasting e-liquid recipes. While there are no traditional flavours in the UK range (Tobacco, Menthol or Mint) at present, which limits the target customer base of smokers somewhat, most of their single note, fruit menthols and mixed fruit blends are outstanding! The Pineapple Ice flavour tastes like actual pineapple juice! The Cherry Ice flavour - you can smell the fresh cherries!

The research and development that went into the Gene Tree coil and airflow system is clearly paying dividends and helping deliver that promised top-quality performance, with a consistent and smooth fruity flavour hit achieved on every puff.

Comparable products to the Dragbar Z700 SE are hard to find. If we base our search entirely on flavour profile, then the sweet and fruity variants of the SKE Crystal Bar range or the Elf Bar 600s would be a reasonable alternative purchase. But when you factor in price, it becomes a different matter.

Although currently packaged in a pack of two, the price per unit for these devices seems attractive when priced against other disposables, especially given the quality of the flavour and the claimed longevity in puffs from the battery.

For those not a fan of a sweet vape, there may be better choices than the Dragbars for your daily vape. All 18 of the flavours currently available are very sweet and very fruity. Of those I sampled, the flavours that impressed me the most were the Lemon & Lime, the Cola Ice (which was very pleasant), and the Pineapple Ice. Even the Mango Ice (and I generally am not a fan of this flavour) was very realistic.

VooPoo and ZoVoo have created something truly unique in their Dragbar Z700 SE disposables. In terms of popularity, sales were impressive during the launch promotion, and it is good to see the number of returning customers not only stocking up on their favourites but also keen to try every one of the 18 flavours in the Z700 range - they are clearly as impressed as I was!

Victoria's Review

I was really excited to try out the Dragbar. The packaging definitely piqued my interest. Firstly, they come in a twin pack, in a box that seemed impossibly thin. Each device is pre-filled with the fairly standard, 2ml of liquid/20mg nic salt. However, seeing that the battery capacity was only 380mAh, I was honestly a little bit sceptical of the estimated 700 puffs per bar. A full 100 more than most other vapes in the same price range.

What really got my interest though, was seeing that the Dragbar uses new ceramic coil technology, so I couldn’t wait to see how they compared to the run of the mill mesh coil vapes, and whether I’d be able to notice any difference at all. My first thoughts on removing the packaging was how slim and lightweight it was. I have to say, I thought it looked pretty cool. The colour coordinated, clear mouthpiece, allowing you to see the juice level was a very nice touch as well as a useful feature. When you take a puff, the battery indicator light (also colour coordinated!) glows gently from inside the device. It’s all very slick and stylish indeed.

The flavour I chose to try first was Pineapple Ice, and straight away I was impressed with how spot on and authentic the flavour was. Really fruity, but not too sweet. The ‘Ice’ flavour was just enough to prevent the fruitiness from becoming overwhelming and sickly as you vape, but unlike a lot of Ice flavours, it stayed consistently in the background and didn’t start gradually taking over the fruit flavour at any point.

The other thing I noticed straight away, was just how smooth the draw was. Silky smooth. So much that at first I was worried that it wasn’t going to give enough of a throat hit to keep my cravings satisfied, but once I had gotten a little more used to it, it was enough to keep me happy, and I didnt feel the need to reach for a substitute/supplement vape at any point. Much to my amazement, I’m pretty sure the battery life lived up to the 700 puffs per bar claim, or at least not far off! Also being able to see the liquid level gives you a fair idea of how much life is left in each bar, something I always appreciate.

As an ex-smoker, the thought of my only nicotine source suddenly and unexpectedly dying at the worst possible moment fills me with anxiety. Being able to glance at it and take an educated guess that it will last for at least ‘x’ more hours, is a really valuable feature for me. I am really impressed with the Dragbar, I think I will definitely be using these vapes again. They might not be my top recommendation to someone who is JUST making the transition from tobacco perhaps, only because they don’t have that slightly restricted air flow that replicates drawing on a cigarette the way an elf bar, for example, does, and that can be really helpful when you first make the switch. But if you’re already a few months into your smoke free journey, or already a regular vaper, then I highly recommend the Voopoo Dragbar. Easily one of the best disposable vapes I’ve tried!

Pros:

  • Visible juice level
  • Longevity
  • Double pack
  • Slim & lightweight
  • Stylish design

Cons:

  • Slightly looser airflow than most disposables

Trevor's Review

Having already tried two other flavours, when asked to review some new flavours in the Dragbar Z700 SE disposable vapes from Voopoo, I was keen to try more. The range is sold with two units per pack and there are lots of interesting flavours to choose from. Each unit has a 380mAh battery and 2ml of e-liquid delivered via a ceramic coil. The device can give you up to 700 puffs which means that in the twin pack you get up to 1400 puffs.

My overall opinion of the Voopoo Dragbar is that it is a good device. When you use a disposable vape the most important thing must be the flavour and the draw, and in this respect the units give a great experience. With so many different designs out there it will always come down to personal taste, but with the slim design, twin packs and 700 puffs per device you ARE getting convenience here.

Pros:

  • A bright slim unit with a visible see through tank at the top so that you can see the liquid.
  • Easy to use pocket or bag friendly.
  • Comes in a range of interesting fruity and sweet flavours delivered via a ceramic coil.
  • Has a good draw from the mouthpiece.

Cons:

  • Battery can occasionally leave you with e liquid remaining in the device.
  • With the hidden LED under the plastic just over half way up the unit, you can't show off in the dark with this one.

Afreen's Review

For the Voopoo Dragbars, having two vapes in one box is an instant win! They may cost £9 - 10 per box, but as there are two, you save on all the wasted packaging you normally get when buying more than one vape.

The packaging itself is quite minimal, with the brand name, flavour, and an indication that it's a twin pack clearly marked, so you can see that you should be able to obtain 1400 puffs from a pack. The pack also states that the devices use a Gene Tree ceramic coil (which didn't mean much to me), but after doing some research on Google, I found this type of coil allows for a better experience with improved flavour and performance. It is an innovation made by Voopoo themselves, and is actually quite impressive.

The vapes themselves look great. They're slim and sleek and easily fit in your hand or pocket. Both are encased in their own plastic wrappers, so you don't have to worry about opening one and the other one losing its flavour because it is still sealed in a wrapper.

For the construction, they've used a bright plastic section for the bottom part where the "Drag Bar" logo is printed, with "Zoopoo" written underneath that. Then, at the top, they used a see-through plastic material where you can see the e-liquid, and shown in small print, it has the flavour printed with the percentage of nicotine.

This is a fantastic idea as you can see how much of the flavour is left. The contrasting colours indicating the device's flavour are also aesthetically pleasing.

To conclude, I would say that the Drag Bars have great potential. Their flavours are definitely some of the best I've tasted. I would go as far as saying their flavours are probably better than the SKE Crystal bar flavours. However, the battery life, performance, and build let them down. They can definitely improve the mouthpiece and also the battery or coil which led me to drop points from my scores. I hope to see the improvements and try them again in future.

Pros:

  • A bit more Eco-Friendly than others
  • Taste is brilliant and I couldn't fault them other than a couple losing their flavour towards the end
  • Aesthetically pleasing to look at
  • Lightweight and comfortable to hold

Cons:

  • The mouthpiece is the same size as the bottom part, so if not paying attention you could inhale upside down which has happened to me. Thankfully I had no issues from multiple occasions.
  • Battery life on a couple wasn't great. One just didn't work at all from opening the package, and one stopped working after a few inhales.
  • I also don't think you get as many as 1,400 puffs from the twin pack.

Aloe Grape
Aloe Grape
3.5 out of 5

This tasted pretty artificial at first, as most Grape flavour vapes do in my opinion. I wasn’t sure I would get on with it initially. But unlike most Grape flavours, this one actually grew on me, and I found myself finishing it and then going straight in for the next one (double pack!).

Maybe it was the addition of the Aloe flavour? It’s barely detectable as a distinct flavour of its own, but has a balancing effect on the sweetness, in a similar way that adding the ice to fruit flavours does, but without that overly powerful throat chilling effect that ice/Menthol can sometimes have.

5.0 out of 5

Aloe Grape is such a lovely flavour. I have used a different disposable with this combination and the Dragbar has the same smooth Aloe with sweet ripe Grape mixed in. There is a cool exhale on this one and although it is unique to this brand, it still has all of the flavour you would want.

4.0 out of 5

I found this very tasty, but the flavour started to fade towards the end.

Blueberry Raspberry
Blueberry Raspberry
4.0 out of 5

This was nice! Not especially different to other Blueberry Raspberry flavour vapes on the market except that it managed to not get sickly sweet at any point. I find I often ‘tap out’ and need a break from very fruity flavours, but by giving it just the right amount of zing, they’ve managed to find the sweet spot (so to speak). This seems to be something they’ve managed to do with a lot of their flavours.

5.0 out of 5

Blueberry Raspberry is that classic flavour that pops up everywhere. This one has a pleasant fruity taste with low notes of Palma Violet and Rose with a cool icy exhale. It is very nice, and a little different.

4.0 out of 5

I thought this was brilliant flavour wise, but it did tend to lose its taste towards the end.

2.5 out of 5

This was the only flavour I was disappointed with. It started out nicely enough, good strong Cola taste, but the flavour quickly deteriorated and became unpleasant to me. The ice-iness also got to be increasingly overpowering as the Cola taste just seemed to disappear. I wouldn’t go for this particular flavour again personally.

5.0 out of 5

The Cola Ice flavour is what you would want when choosing this one. It is icy and fresh, and on the exhale you get the Cola taste which also stays in the mouth afterwards.

5.0 out of 5

It tasted like Cola sweets, and the flavour remained till the end. Brilliant flavour, and my favourite out of the bunch.

4.5 out of 5

Loved this! An authentic tropical Pineapple taste, with just enough ‘ice’ to balance the sweetness. I never got sick of this flavour, it was just right!

5.0 out of 5

Pineapple Ice maybe first on my list, but it was the very last flavour that I actually tested, and I think that was good idea because I am starting to realise that Dragbars definitely have a signature taste. This is common - most vapes when tried together with others in the range will have a similar taste profile.

All of these Dragbars give you a fresh hit - including the Pineapple Ice which has the fruit in there with plenty of added coolness. For this flavour they kept it simple, although you do seem to get an added twist to the flavour that comes through later. Very clever.

5.0 out of 5

Again, tasted brilliant consistently. After Cola Ice, I'd pick this one.

Triple Melon
Triple Melon
4.5 out of 5

Another contender for my new favourite flavour! I’m always a fan of melon flavours so it wasn’t a huge surprise that I liked this flavour a lot. But this has to be the best Triple Melon I've tried. You get the refreshing watermelon, the sweetness of honey melon. I couldn’t tell you what the mysterious third type of melon was but it was extremely good! Definitely will be getting this again.

5.0 out of 5

Triple Melon is a much more simplified taste than other vapes with the same name. I was surprised that it was definitely not as sweet as I expected it to be, this left a more refreshing taste in the mouth and to be honest I preferred it.

5.0 out of 5

This one is also a winner as the taste was amazing. I was surprisingly pleased with this one as I don't like Melon flavoured vapes that much.

Conclusion

The collaboration between VooPoo and ZoVoo has definitely delivered a product that impresses. The flavours within the range are just outstanding, and as our panel noted, their recipe has what can be described as a signature taste. Whatever flavour you choose, you can guarantee you will enjoy a robust and highly realistic flavour.

In terms of design, these modern Dragbars are pleasing in every way compared to others in the market; to hold, look at, and vape. The sleek unit is a mile away from an original pen-style disposable design, and the decision to use a transparent mouthpiece/tank to provide visibility of the e-liquid within is a very clever and modern feature appreciated by all who tried.

For smokers preferring traditional Menthol and Tobacco flavours and those wanting a lower nicotine level than 20mg, sadly, the Z700 SE range may not be for you. For those with a sweet tooth, fruit lovers, or vapers looking for a powerful taste hit, I advise trying them all. Bar the Aloe Grape, which divides opinion, every other flavour gave a 'wow' moment from the first puff.

The Dragbar Z700 SE vapes, even with their smaller battery, usually last the promised 700 puffs. Being supplied in a pack of two gives you far more puffs for your money than any singular vape currently in the legal UK market.

Launched to be an Elf Bar successor, with their performance, design and taste, VooPoo and ZoVoo have a strong chance of achieving that with this product!
