In one of our recent posts, we mentioned that e-cigarette use has been stalling lately at a little less than 3 million active users in the United Kingdom. There are as many explanations for this as there are people using vapes, and industry leaders have been scrambling to find the magic spark to reignite the engine of adoption, to no apparent avail.

Another public health organisation has come out in favour of e-cigarettes. The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence has issued guidelines for healthcare practitioners to start recommending e-cigarettes to patients looking to quit smoking.

Public Health England has just published a new evidence review speaking very well of e-cigarettes and vaping devices and encouraging their broader use. Beyond that, they're also urging smokers to be "pragmatic" if considering smoking while pregnant.

In that latest survey, smokers (23,000+) were defined as people who reported smoking cigarettes 12 months before the survey. Of these smokers, about 2100 reported having quit recently. About 49 percent of the quitters and 38 percent of non-quitters had tried e-cigs; about 12 and 19 percent respectively reported using them every day or on some days.
