When vaping CBD oil, there are often many questions about how you inhale the e-liquid. Do you hold in CBD vape liquid once you inhale, or inhale and exhale quickly? According to users, the most effective way to take CBD oil is by inhaling it into your lungs. Once the vapour has been held in for a few seconds, to allow the cannabinoids to be absorbed, you can then exhale.

What to use to vape CBD oil?

There are three main ways to vape CBD oil, each using different vaping contraptions. The devices mentioned can be purchased in a starter kit from most vaping shops, but which one you use is entirely up to you and your personal preference.

However, bear in mind that there is a difference between CBD e-liquid and CBD oil to vape. You can use an ‘ordinary’ vaping device to vape CBD e-liquid, but CBD vape oil requires a device made especially for vaping oils. You can usually tell if a device is designed specifically for CBD oil as it is often written in the name or description on retail websites and in shops - always remember to research before you buy.

1. CBD Vape Pen

Also known as a CBD vape shot kit, or a CBD vape starter kit, the CBD vape pen is said to be the most popular on the market. The device is made up of two different components: a battery and a cartridge, which easy to use and overall, fairly inexpensive.

What’s handy about pre-filled vapes is that you can easily switch cartridges, something that isn’t quite as simple for other devices. To do this, you simply screw and unscrew the CBD vape pen cartridge into the battery, and once you have finished with it, you can throw the cartridge away and replace it. This means that if you want to change the strength or flavours in your vape pen, you don’t have to wait until it’s finished before swapping, unlike refillable vapes which you must finish.

In addition, the vape pen tends to hold around 250mg of CBD e-liquid, which is enough to last anywhere between 10 days to 2 weeks depending on how much you are planning to vape. This means you can spend more time vaping and less time refilling your pen.

Much like a CBD vape pen, a disposable vape pen is much the same, but once you have finished with it, you can simply throw it in the bin.

This kind of CBD vape pen often has just one component, which means that it is around the same size as a cigarette. Therefore, these devices are far more convenient and discreet, perfect for if you’re travelling as you don’t need to recharge them between uses like most vape pens. Consequently, as it is small and disposable, these CBD vape pens are often cheap – great for if you’re going out and don’t have much room to carry a typical vape pen.

However, it is important to bear in mind that because they are cheap in price, disposable CBD vape pens are often not quite as high quality as cartridge CBD vape pens, and don’t hold as much liquid (30 to 50mg).

3. Refillable "Tank-style" Vapes

“Tank style” refillable vaporisers are often easy to spot as they are larger in size and tend to produce distinguishable vape clouds. This kind of vape device is often most popular among ex-smokers who would like the imitate the experience of smoking as much as possible.

For people who vape CBD oil, this "tank-style" is not as popular as the vape pen cartridges or disposables. But this doesn’t mean you should rule them out, as you can still reap the benefits of CBD. It is entirely up to the individual vaping the CBD e-liquid, as everyone has different personal preferences. For example, if you like to experiment and mix different vape flavours together, this is a good option for you as you have more freedom.
